Having missing teeth can greatly affect someone’s quality of life.
Not only does it make eating and speaking difficult, it can also knock their confidence.
If you’re currently struggling with life without teeth, it’s time to do something about it.
Dental bridges are an efficient, natural-looking and convenient option for those who want to build the gap and regain their smile.
Here’s what you need to know.
What is a dental bridge?
Dental bridges are a cosmetic dental treatment that bridges the gap between teeth for a natural look and feel.
They are often referred to as ‘false teeth’ and are bonded to either side of the gap on the healthy, surrounding teeth.
Bridges can be used to replace between 1 and 4 teeth, are low maintenance and help maintain symmetry in the face.
Types of dental bridges
There are a few different types of dental bridges available, depending on the look the patient wants to achieve, their existing teeth and gum health, and the dentist.
Before assessing the patient’s teeth and gums, it’s hard to recommend a suitable bridge type, which is why we encourage those interested in bridge treatment to book a consultation for a full assessment.

How long does it take to get a dental bridge?
The length of time it takes for a dental bridge to be completed depends on how many teeth need to be replaced and the crown type you choose.
In total, it takes around 2 visits to make and fit the bridge. This is because each bridge is made unique to the patient and their existing teeth and gums.
Once your dentist has determined that you’re suitable for dental bridges, they will start by reshaping the existing teeth next to the one that needs replacing so the bridge can be attached.
Impressions are then taken before a temporary bridge is fitted, so you can get a feel of the final result.
When the bridge is complete, we’ll book you in for an appointment to fit it, so you can enjoy your new and improved smile.
How much does a dental bridge cost?
The cost of a dental bridge depends on how many gaps you need to fill.
A dental bridge can fit up to four teeth, which are bonded onto the healthy teeth on either side.
During your bridge consultation, you will be given a fixed price based on these factors, and we’ll work out a payment plan for you.
Dental bridge and receding gums
A common misconception is that those with receding gums can’t undergo bridge treatment. But this isn’t true.
Dental bridges are a perfect alternative to implants.
During your consultation, your dentist will assess the health of your gums to ensure it’s suitable. If not, they will recommend an option better suited to your needs.
